Our Brother, the Prince

Hey everyone! Sorry I haven't been around to chat in awhile, I've been working on some new art for your viewing pleasure. Here is some of the work that I've finished, a piece I've entitled "Our Brother, the Prince".

This work of art, completed with oil paint on a canvas surface, is meant to depict Jesus Christ in the Resurrection, the figure being modeled after African royalty and superheroic mythology (hence the title "Our Brother, the Prince"). He is holding the world in his hands, but is presenting it to the viewer as to say "the world is yours; be responsible with this gift". In time, I plan to do more with this concept, perhaps making this version of Chirst a central point in a series all its own. As always, all comments are welcome- lemme know what you think. Thanks for taking the time to view and post, and I'll see you next time.

New Warrior

Hey everyone whats going on? Everything's good on my side, just finished up a new image on Photoshop that I've been working on for a while... I redrew a figure from a painting I did awhile back and decided to put it to digital color. It was based on African warriors, more towards the Zulu peoples in South Africa. In the original concept, the figure is running as though to outrun time itself, to accomplish his mission. He was originally to have streak marks as he ran, but I changed my mind because I actually began to appreciate the quality of the figure himself and felt that the viewer would still understand the message without any excess imagery. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the new work, and I'll update more soon. Peace.

Sketches from Grandma's Party

Hello everyone in blogworld, this is the blog of D.I.Snipes (that's me), an artist and designer hailing from the DMV area. I started this blog to showcase some of my artwork- so in that spirit, I hope you enjoy. Also, if you're looking to have artwork done, please feel free to contact me through my email address,Dsnipes6984@aol.com. Well, here goes... here are some sketches that I've done over the weekend from my grandmother's birthday party... I like the looseness of the sketches themselves, although in time I'll probably color them and present those versions soon.

This is a quick sketch of the birthday girl herself...

This one was a full on scene sketch of my cousin playing the piano...

And here's the men of the family tuning into the football game.

Well that's all I got for now, but when I got more I'll be sure to put it up...in the meantime inbetweentime all feedback is welcome...Peace.
